Congressman Carlos Gimenez of Florida has sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, addressing the situation of Venezuelan exiles in the United States. In his communication, Congressman Gimenez advocates for a tailored approach to address the needs of Venezuelans fleeing their country's communist regime.
Gimenez represents South Florida, which hosts the largest community of Venezuelan exiles in the nation. He has consistently supported this community throughout his political career.
Carlos Gimenez serves Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. Notably, he is the only Cuban-born member of the 119th Congress, having left Cuba following its communist takeover. Before his congressional tenure, he was a firefighter paramedic and later became Fire Chief of Miami and Mayor of Miami-Dade County. His roles include Vice-Chairman of the Republican Governance Group and Chairman of various committees such as Homeland Security Subcommittee on Transportation and Maritime Security, Armed Services Committee, and Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party.
