Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving as a U.S. Congresswoman representing Florida’s 27th district, took to Twitter to share recent developments regarding immigration policies and political concerns in Latin America. Her activity on social media highlights ongoing geopolitical issues and her involvement in these matters.
On April 3, 2025, Rep. Salazar announced via Twitter the extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuelan nationals. Her tweet read, "GREAT NEWS! @DHSgov and @SecNoem will be extending TPS status for Venezuelans for another 18 months. I’ve led the fight on this and been asking for MONTHS! Thank you to the Administration for doing the right thing. Now let’s use this extra time to get Maduro OUT! ".
The same announcement was also made in Spanish on her Twitter account the same day. Rep. Salazar echoed similar sentiments, stating, "¡EXCELENTE NOTICIA! @DHSgov y @SecNoem extenderán el TPS para los venezolanos por 18 meses más. ¡He liderado esta lucha y lo he estado pidiendo durante MESES! Gracias a la Administración por hacer lo correcto. Ahora aprovechemos este tiempo extra para sacar a Maduro. ".
Later the same day, Salazar expressed concern about Honduras' political trajectory, suggesting that the country might emulate Venezuela's shift towards socialism. She tweeted, "Honduras is in danger of following Venezuela’s path toward socialism. Xiomara Castro and Mel Zelaya are adopting Chávez-Maduro-style policies—intimidating rivals and undermining democracy. That’s why I’m asking @SecRubio to help ensure free, fair elections.".
