In a recent meeting with local officials, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez discussed the pressing needs of the Homestead community in Miami-Dade County. Together with Mayor Steve Losner, Chief Alexander Rolle, and Councilmen Clemente Canabal and Larry Roth, they collaborated on upcoming federal funding projects that will address these needs.
Homestead, known for being one of the fastest growing communities in Miami-Dade County, plays a vital role in South Florida's agricultural industry. Recognizing the significance of this area, Congressman Giménez is determined to secure additional funding to enhance public safety and invest in critical infrastructure.
Mayor Losner and the City Councilmen expressed their gratitude to Congressman Giménez for his leadership and success in prioritizing funding for the City of Homestead. As the Representative for Homestead in Congress, Giménez expressed his commitment to spearheading projects that address the community's needs.
"As the City of Homestead's Representative in Congress, I am proud to spearhead projects prioritizing our communities' needs," said Rep. Gimenez. "I look forward to continuing working collaboratively with Mayor Losner, the City Council, and the entire City of Homestead team to deliver federal funding for public safety and infrastructure initiatives in Southern Miami-Dade County."
Among the projects Rep. Gimenez is fighting for are:
- $750,000 for the Body Worn Camera Program in the FY2022 CJS Appropriations Bill.
- $2,000,000 for the Homestead Septic to Sewer project in the FY2023 Interior-Environment Appropriations Bill.
- $1,000,000 for the Downtown Revitalization and Resilient Electrical Infrastructure Project in the FY2023 THUD Appropriations Bill.
- $3,500,000 for the Pump Station 22 Upgrades Project in the FY2024 THUD Appropriations Bill.
- $3,500,000 for the SW 162nd Ave Roadway and Bridge Expansion Project in the FY2024 THUD Appropriations Bill.
These projects aim to improve various aspects of the Homestead community, from public safety to infrastructure development. Through the allocation of federal funding, Rep. Gimenez hopes to address the needs of the residents and contribute to the overall growth and prosperity of the region.
