María Elvira Salazar, serving as the U.S. Congress representative for Florida's 27th District since 2021, shared recent legislative and humanitarian efforts through social media. Salazar emphasized her alignment with bipartisan and bicameral colleagues in introducing the NO FAKES Act.

The proposed legislation aims to safeguard individuals' voices and images from unauthorized use by artificial intelligence technologies.

The following day, Salazar reported on a meeting with individuals affected by the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict. In a tweet dated April 10, 2025, at 11:22 AM UTC, she detailed her encounter, "Ayer recibí en el Capitolio a Iair Horn, argentino-israelí y exrehén de Hamás, junto a familias de israelíes secuestrados. Iair sobrevivió 498 días en un verdadero infierno, mientras su hermano Eitan aún permanece en cautiverio. ¡Es urgente traer a todos los rehenes de regreso."

On the same day, Salazar reiterated in a subsequent tweet, "Yesterday, I welcomed former Hamas hostage Iair Horn and families of kidnapped Israelis to the Capitol. Iair spent 498 days in hell on earth — and his brother Eitan is still there. We must bring the hostages home now!"

Salazar, who has a longstanding career in public service, including previous experience in the Florida House of Representatives, continues her work from her base in Miami where she was born in 1961 and graduated from the University of Miami in 1983. At 61, she remains a key political figure in Miami.
