MIAMI, FL - On January 27th, Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) issued a statement to honor and remember the six million Jews who were brutally killed during the Holocaust. Speaking on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, which also marks the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, Rep. Gimenez emphasized the importance of never forgetting the atrocities and combating anti-Semitism and hate.
Rep. Gimenez stated, "On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day - the 78th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau - let us honor the lives of the six million Jews systematically murdered during the Holocaust. We must never forget the atrocities the Jewish people endured and recommit ourselves to combating the scourge of anti-Semitism and hate."
He further expressed concern about the rise of anti-Semitism in society, particularly following the October 7th attacks, which marked the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Rep. Gimenez emphasized the need to stand with the Democratic, Jewish State of Israel as they defend themselves against Hamas terrorists.
"Sadly, the rot of anti-Semitism still exists in our society and we have seen a despicable rise in incidents following the October 7th attacks - the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Never again is now and we must stand with the Democratic, Jewish State of Israel as they defend themselves from savage Hamas terrorists. I am proud to join my fellow Americans, and others across the world, as we pause and commit to the promise of Never Again," he said.
Congressman Carlos Giménez represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys. As the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress, he fled his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. He serves on the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China.
On this International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Rep. Gimenez's statement serves as a reminder to honor the memory of the six million Jews who perished during the Holocaust and to fight against anti-Semitism and hate. The atrocities of the past must never be forgotten, and the promise of "Never Again" must be upheld.
