Rep. Carlos A. Gimenez, representing Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys, has spoken out following President Biden's State of the Union Address. Gimenez criticized the current administration, stating, “The America President Biden described tonight is very different from the reality everyday Americans are living.” He highlighted the negative impacts of what he referred to as President Biden's "reckless policies" on issues such as inflation, energy costs, debt, and crime.

Gimenez also expressed concern about the foreign policy implications of Biden's leadership, stating, “His countless failures have emboldened our foreign adversaries, created the unprecedented crisis in our southern border, and made our country less safe.” He emphasized the impact of the southern border situation, describing it as an "invasion" that has led to the spread of deadly fentanyl and the empowerment of transnational cartels.

As a Cuban-born Member of Congress, Gimenez drew on his personal experience to denounce socialism, highlighting its dangers and the need to prevent its influence from spreading. He underscored his commitment to preserving individual liberty and entrepreneurship, stating, “Such policies undermine the principle of individual liberty and entrepreneurship that are a foundation of our nation’s prosperity and success.” Gimenez's stance against socialism was further demonstrated by his choice to host Cuban opposition leader Rosa María Payá as his honored guest at the State of the Union.

Gimenez's background as a former firefighter paramedic, Fire Chief of the City of Miami, and Mayor of Miami-Dade County adds depth to his perspective on issues such as homeland security and China. As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China, Gimenez brings a unique blend of experience and expertise to his role in Congress.
