WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Carlos A. Gimenez (FL-28) along with Reps. Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-26), Maria Elvira Salazar (FL-27), and Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06) engaged in a sit-down interview with Telemundo to discuss their expectations for the upcoming State of the Union Address. The discussion also highlighted the record number of Hispanic Republicans currently serving in the Congressional Hispanic Conference.
During the interview, Rep. Gimenez expressed his pride in the growing presence of Hispanic Republicans in Congress, stating, “It’s an honor to serve with true patriots. We now have a historic number of Hispanic Republicans in the Congressional Hispanic Conference. We were proud to sit with Telemundo and speak to Julio Vaqueiro about what we expect for the State of the Union.”
Congressman Carlos Gimenez, who represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys, is recognized as the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress. Having fled his homeland following the Communist takeover, Gimenez brings a unique perspective to his role. Prior to his congressional tenure, he served as the Fire Chief of the City of Miami and as the Mayor of Miami-Dade County. He currently holds positions on the House Armed Services Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Select Committee on China.
