Congressman Carlos A. Giménez expressed his views on the passage of the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024 in the House of Representatives. He highlighted the importance of the bill in addressing various national issues and providing necessary improvements to South Florida military facilities.
Giménez criticized the spending habits of the current administration, stating, “Under President Biden, reckless spending by far-left Democrats has added trillions of dollars to our national debt.” He emphasized the significance of the funding resolution in cutting wasteful spending and saving billions of dollars for American taxpayers.
The Congressman pointed out the positive aspects of the bill, noting, “This bill answers the call. It includes an increase of $27 billion to increase pay for our troops, reestablish American industrial might, and to stop the flow of fentanyl flooding our country.” He also highlighted the bill's role in enhancing national security amidst emerging global threats.
Acknowledging that the bill is not perfect, Giménez outlined key conservative wins included in the spending package. He mentioned various budget cuts and reallocations aimed at addressing issues such as illegal immigration facilitation, climate change programs, and countering Communist China's influence in the hemisphere.
In his concluding remarks, Giménez stated, “This bill moves us forward in securing our nation,” emphasizing the bill's role in advancing national security objectives.
Congressman Carlos Giménez, representing Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys, brings a unique perspective to the 118th Congress as the only Cuban-born member. His background as a former firefighter paramedic and experience in local governance positions him well on committees such as the House Armed Services Committee, Homeland Security Committee, and Select Committee on China.
