Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 27th district, has recently taken to social media to address significant issues concerning national security and international politics. Her tweets highlight concerns about organized crime and legislative measures aimed at addressing foreign political regimes.

On November 18, 2024, Rep. Salazar tweeted about the presence of the Tren de Aragua gang in major U.S. cities. She stated, "The Tren de Aragua gang is operating across major cities in the US." She emphasized her long-standing warnings about this group and mentioned efforts with Senator Marco Rubio to have them designated as a Transnational Criminal Organization (TCO). Salazar described this situation as a "national security threat" that needs urgent attention.

Later on the same day, Rep. Salazar announced via Twitter that the House of Representatives had passed H.R. 825, known as the BOLIVAR Act. In her tweet, she noted, "The legislation cuts off an additional financial lifeline for the Maduro regime's repressive apparatus." She expressed gratitude towards fellow representatives for their support of Venezuelan opposition during critical times.

In a subsequent tweet posted shortly after, Rep. Salazar reiterated in Spanish that "La Cámara de Representantes APROBÓ la ley BOLIVAR, H.R. 825." This message mirrored her earlier statement regarding cutting financial resources for Venezuela's Maduro regime and thanked colleagues for their backing of Venezuelan opposition forces.
