Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who serves in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district, expressed concerns over border security and gang activity through a series of tweets on November 25, 2024.
In her first tweet at 19:35 UTC, Salazar addressed the activities of "El Tren de Aragua," stating that this gang had infiltrated major U.S. cities and was recruiting migrant children to bolster its criminal operations. She attributed these developments to current border policies, saying: "El Tren de Aragua invadió importantes ciudades de EE. UU. y ahora recluta a niños migrantes para aumentar sus delitos."
Later that evening, at 22:35 UTC, Salazar reported the arrest of a member of this gang at Dolphin Mall in northwest Miami-Dade. She criticized Democratic policies for allegedly enabling such occurrences by leaving borders open and undocumented individuals entering the country. She tweeted: "A member of the dangerous migrant gang, Tren de Aragua, was just arrested at Dolphin Mall in northwest Miami-Dade."
Shortly thereafter, at 22:36 UTC, Salazar reiterated her message in Spanish about the arrest and called for action against the gang's presence in Florida and across the nation. Her tweet read: "¡IMPACTANTE! Un miembro del Tren de Aragua fue arrestado en el Dolphin Mall."
