Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 27th district, has been actively advocating for the TAKE IT DOWN Act, a legislative measure designed to protect victims of revenge porn and deepfake abuse. On December 5, 2024, she shared updates on the progress of this legislation via her social media platform.

On December 5, Rep. Salazar announced that "The Senate passed @SenTedCruz and @SenAmyKlobuchar's companion version of my and @RepDean's TAKE IT DOWN Act!" "This bill gives revenge porn victims, most of whom are women and girls, important legal protections to fight deepfake abuse." She emphasized the importance of passing the bill in the House as well.

In a subsequent post on December 5, Rep. Salazar reiterated her message in Spanish: "El Senado aprobó su versión de la ley TAKE IT DOWN de @SenTedCruz y @SenAmyKlobuchar, que propuse junto a @RepDean." She highlighted that this legislation provides crucial legal protections for victims of revenge pornography and urged its approval in the House.
