Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 27th district since 2021, shared her views on border security and her new role in the Financial Committee through a series of tweets.
On January 22, 2025, Rep. Salazar expressed concerns about border security, stating that "When you have wide-open borders, EVERY state is a border state. This shouldn’t be happening in Miami!" She commended the efforts of Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for their work in keeping Miami families safe from human traffickers and criminals.
In a subsequent tweet on the same day, she reiterated her stance in Spanish: "Cuando hay fronteras abiertas, TODOS los estados son estados fronterizos. ¡Esto no debería estar sucediendo en Miami!" Again, she praised CBP for their role in maintaining safety.
Later that day, Rep. Salazar tweeted about her new position with the Financial Committee: "Thank you for the warm welcome on my first day with @FinancialCmte, Chairman @RepFrenchHill." She expressed eagerness to work together to support hardworking families and protect America's interests both domestically and internationally.
