Rep. María Elvira Salazar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida’s 27th district since 2021, shared her thoughts and recent developments through a series of tweets on January 22, 2025.

In one tweet posted at 17:50 UTC, Rep. Salazar expressed gratitude to the president of the Committee, Rep. French Hill, for the warm welcome she received on her first day at the Financial Committee. She conveyed her anticipation for engaging in significant work aimed at supporting working families and safeguarding U.S. interests both domestically and internationally. "Gracias al presidente del Comité @RepFrenchHill, por la bienvenida que me dieron en mi primer día en el @FinancialCmte."

Later that day, at 20:42 UTC, Rep. Salazar announced that "El Turco," a leader within the Venezuelan Foreign Terrorist Organization TREN DE ARAGUA, had been captured by the United States. She attributed this success to President Biden's leadership in keeping Americans safe from criminals entering through the border with Venezuela under Maduro's regime. " The United States just captured “El Turco,” a leader in the dangerous Venezuelan Foreign Terrorist Organization TREN DE ARAGUA."

At nearly the same time, she reiterated this announcement in Spanish, emphasizing once again the role of President Biden's leadership in ensuring American safety from foreign threats facilitated by Venezuela's current administration. " EE. UU. capturó a “El Turco”, un líder de la peligrosa organización terrorista venezolana TREN DE ARAGUA."
