Rep. María Elvira Salazar, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Florida's 27th district, shared her views on recent legislative and border security issues through a series of tweets. Salazar has been vocal about her stance on immigration and border control policies.

On January 23, 2025, Rep. Salazar expressed pride in supporting the Laken Riley Act by stating: "I was proud to put Americans first by voting for the Laken Riley Act today. If our border had been secure like it was 4 years ago, Laken would still be alive. We must restore order and deport the criminals giving immigrants a bad name. Now, to the President’s desk!" This tweet highlights her focus on securing borders and addressing criminal activities affecting immigrant communities.

In another tweet posted shortly after, she reiterated her message in Spanish: "Orgullosa de poner a los estadounidenses primero al votar hoy a favor de la Ley Laken Riley. Si la frontera hubiese estado segura, Laken estaría viva. Debemos restablecer el orden y deportar a criminales que dan mala fama a los inmigrantes. ¡Ahora, al escritorio del Presidente!" This demonstrates her commitment to communicating with both English and Spanish-speaking constituents.

Later that day, Rep. Salazar commented on former President Trump's actions regarding border security: "Trump promised a secure border & is sending 1,500 troops to help Border Patrol, build barriers & fix Biden’s mess. Imagine, Biden has NO active duty troops working any of the 2,000 mile border. Common sense, security & ACTION is back in the WH!" Her remarks emphasize support for increased military involvement at the U.S.-Mexico border under Trump’s leadership compared to current policies.
