Rep. María Elvira Salazar, a U.S. Congress member representing Florida's 27th district, recently shared her thoughts on various topics through social media posts. Her statements addressed the Holocaust Remembrance Day and the collaboration between the United States and El Salvador in combating gang violence.
On January 28, 2025, Rep. Salazar commemorated Holocaust Remembrance Day by highlighting the tragedy of over six million lives lost due to cruelty and antisemitism. She emphasized the importance of remembrance to prevent hatred from taking root again.
Later that day, she acknowledged efforts by President Biden and El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele in addressing gang-related issues. She mentioned that members of the Tren de Aragua gang might soon be detained alongside MS-13 members in maximum security facilities in El Salvador as a result of these efforts. "Thanks to @POTUS and President @nayibbukele’s efforts, Tren de Aragua gang members may soon be sharing maximum security jail cells with MS-13 gang members in El Salvador."
In a similar message posted shortly after, Rep. Salazar reiterated her appreciation for the joint actions taken by both presidents to address gang violence effectively.
