MIAMI, FL - Congressman Carlos A. Giménez (FL-28) has issued a statement expressing his support for Chairman Mike Gallagher's decision to not seek re-election in 2024. Rep. Gimenez, who serves alongside Chairman Gallagher on the House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Community Party (CCP), praised Gallagher as a patriot and a strong fighter for America.

In his statement, Rep. Gimenez said, "Chairman Mike Gallagher is a patriot and strong fighter for America, both as a Member of Congress and as a US Marine. One of my highlights in Congress has been serving on the Select Committee on Communist China alongside Chairman Gallagher and working together to address the growing threat posed by the murderous Chinese Communist Party."

Rep. Gimenez also expressed his admiration for Gallagher's service to the nation and wished him success in his future endeavors. He added, "I wish Rep. Gallagher nothing but absolute success in his future endeavors and look forward to continuing crafting solutions with him to protect our truly exceptional nation."

Congressman Carlos Giménez, who represents Miami-Dade County and the Florida Keys, has a unique background as the only Cuban-born Member of the 118th Congress. He fled his homeland shortly after the Communist takeover of the island. Prior to his political career, he served as the Fire Chief of the City of Miami and later became the Mayor of Miami.

The House Select Committee on the Strategic Competition Between the United States and the Chinese Community Party (CCP) is dedicated to examining the threat posed by the CCP and developing a plan of action to safeguard the American people, economy, and values.
