In a tweet posted on January 29, 2025, Rep. Salazar expressed her views on new legislation signed into law by President Trump. She stated, "Laken Riley should be alive today. President Trump just signed into the law the legislation that carries her name so a tragic loss like hers never happens again." The tweet emphasized that illegal immigrants who engage in criminal activities against Americans will not be tolerated under the current administration.
In a subsequent tweet also from January 29, 2025, Salazar reiterated her stance in Spanish: "Laken Riley debería estar viva. El presidente Trump acaba de firmar la ley que lleva su nombre para que una pérdida trágica no vuelva a ocurrir." This message echoed her earlier statement regarding intolerance towards illegal immigrants committing crimes.
Later that day, Salazar commented on Guantanamo Bay as a facility for violent criminals. On January 29, 2025, she tweeted: "Guantanamo Bay is a GREAT place for violent criminals… great idea! " indicating her support for using the detention center for such purposes.
