Rep. María Elvira Salazar, representing Florida's 27th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared insights on legislative initiatives and foreign relations. On April 21, 2025, Salazar communicated her endorsement of a new bill aimed at the protection of religious workers, as well as her perspective on trade dynamics with China.

On April 21, Salazar announced her involvement in introducing the Protection for Religious Workers Act. Through her social media post, she declared: "La semana pasada, ayudé a presentar la Ley de Protección para Trabajadores Religiosos. Este proyecto de ley garantiza que los trabajadores religiosos de todo el mundo puedan seguir brindando servicios de fe esenciales en comunidades de todo Estados Unidos." This initiative aims at securing the capacity of religious workers to continue serving communities across the United States.

Further on the same day, she addressed the issue of trade relations with China. She posted at 16:35, expressing concerns about the long-standing economic interactions between the United States and China: "For too long, America has been treated unfairly by China. We need to move away from adversaries and look to our friends in the Western Hemisphere. Tariffs on Asia are a negotiating tool that will bring jobs back to America and more prosperity for our regional partners." Her stance echoes a broader strategy of shifting focus towards strengthening ties within the Western Hemisphere.

In a similarly timed Spanish language tweet, Salazar reiterated her position on the need to reorient trade strategies towards regional allies.

Rep. Salazar, born in Miami in 1961, leads as a longtime public servant in the U.S. Congress since 2021, having replaced Donna Shalala. She brings a wealth of experience from her tenure in both national and state legislatures.
