On April 10, 2025, Salazar expressed condolences following a tragedy in the Dominican Republic, highlighting the shared grief between the U.S. and the Dominican people: "EEUU y el pueblo de Miami se unen en el dolor con el pueblo dominicano mientras lamentan la tragedia en la discoteca Jet Set en Santo Domingo. Lloramos por Quisqueya la Bella ".
The same day, she remarked on the urgent situations in various countries facing oppressive regimes: "Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela face communist regimes, violent gangs, and tyranny! We must protect the promises made to those people with both compassion and security in mind. DED will allow us to vet these individuals while upholding our word." This sentiment was further echoed in a subsequent post in Spanish: "Cuba, Haití, Nicaragua y Venezuela enfrentan regímenes comunistas, pandillas violentas y tiranía. Debemos proteger las promesas hechas a estas personas con compasión y seguridad en mente. El DED nos permitirá evaluar a estos individuos mientras cumplimos con nuestra palabra."
Salazar, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress since 2021, continues her advocacy for humane policies that balance security and compassion.
